American Landscapes is a photo essay series that has been on my plate for the last few years. I’ve been pouring over the challenge of how to document the mystery, beauty and sadness of certain public spaces.
This chapter addresses the absurdity and visual appeal of all-night car washes — open even during frigid below-zero conditions.
The images are HDR or High Dynamic Range photos. They were created using multiple composited exposures of the same composition.
