Who Wants Cake?

Joe Plambeck and Joe Bailey of Ferndale’s Who Wants Cake? Theatre…

If Metro Times had the budget I would have sprung for a full double-decker vanilla-fondant frosting cake — luckily these guys brought along a Starbuck-brand strawberry poundcake.

Their theatre is still under construction, so I improvised with a primer-white wall in their cramped corridor. Thank god for the 17mm wide angle.

This was my first assignment with dedicated off-camera flash. Shot with a 580EX strobe into a diffuser umbrella on camera right with 430EX (camera left, balanced on a cardboard box) bounced off the wall behind me.

I think I switched the setup for the vertical shot — the whole session was less than thirty minutes.

The bloody bunny? It’s from their adaptation of Fatal Attraction. More info at Who Wants Cake? Theatre.
